Taking the Plunge...

The bikini wax. Three words that strike fear into the hearts of avid salon goers. The thought of having such a sensitive area waxed can cause you to shiver and shrink away from the table topped with white, waxy paper. Thoughts of pain go through your head and, you decide that you would be better off risking razor bumps.

Allow us to take away some of your fear. Yes, waxing hurts. No matter where you get it. Waxing is not the most pleasant experience. If you have been getting waxed for awhile, you will remember the first time that area was waxed. It didn't feel good! But, the results were so pleasant and you kept going. After time passed, you barely felt the pull of the muslin strip. Now, you are in and out with barely a red spot on your face or body.

The same is said for the sensitive areas. After one or two sessions, the pain is dulled and the redness is not as bad either. Plus, salon professionals today have many ways to keep the pain and redness at bay. Just a few years ago some of these products were not available in salons. Thanks to today's fast-moving technology and the influx of natural products, salon professionals have a veritable apothecary of products to ease your pain.

There are natural oils that tone down redness almost immediately. Other products keep any bumps from forming. Most salons keep a numbing lotion close at hand for waxing. If you are really afraid of a little discomfort, request the topical lotion that will numb the area. You will only feel a slight tingle when the lotion is first applied.

Other salon professionals prefer to use natural alternatives. One Aesthetician remarked "I would rather use a warm compress. It opens the pores and softens the hair. The wax still gets all the hair at once but, the pain is barely there because the pores are opened and let's the hair pull out easier. Most people barely feel anything after a warm compress. After the waxing is over, there's a natural oil I like that soothes the area and keeps the redness down. I don't personally see the need for a lot of product but, some of them are really good to use."

Of course, if you would rather risk razor burn before that last trip to the beach or pool before fall, be our guest. We'll make a waxing appointment and enjoy weeks of bump-free, smooth skin. Minimal discomfort in exchange for looking great in a suit? We'll take it!
